Announce New Club -

BROOMFIELD, Colo. - Arvada Hockey Association, Boulder Hockey Club, Hyland Hills Hockey Association and Northern Colorado Youth Hockey are pleased to announce an agreement in principle to begin building the foundation of a premier Tier I hockey association. The new hockey program will be based at the Broomfield Event Center.

The new entity, formed as a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization, is the Colorado Tier Hockey Association (CTHA). CTHA is submitting its application to the Colorado Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) with the intent of fielding Tier 1 teams for the 2009-2010 Hockey Season. Upon the CAHA approval the CTHA will begin hockey operations in late April and announcements will be made regarding a team name, mascot and logo as well as a Hockey Director, team declarations, coaching staff, summer training programs, and tryout information.

“We are thrilled to welcome the CTHA in the coming months and for the opportunity to serve the local youth hockey community,” said Gene Felling, CEO of Broomfield Sports and Entertainment and General Manager of the Broomfield Event Center.

“Youth hockey is an exciting sport, and Broomfield is always pleased to help youth sports succeed.  We are very pleased at this development. Broomfield hockey enthusiasts will be able to skate in their own town,” Mayor Patrick Quinn said.

The CTHA was formed through a collaborative effort by the above mentioned youth hockey organizations to mutually develop, support and promote a premier Tier I hockey program in the state of Colorado with a focus on becoming a perennial nationally ranked Tier I program. The CTHA teams will be comprised of players for the over 3,500 players from the four founding associations as well as countless other elite youth hockey players from around the State of Colorado. The CTHA is excited about the prospects of the four founding associations coming together under one umbrella with a common mission statement of creating a premier Tier I hockey program by providing a first class organizational structure, a cohesive instructional philosophy, a coordinated progression based player skill development program, a professional and dedicated coaching and instructional staff, and a coordinated player placement program. CTHA will attract and recruit dedicated individuals with a strong desire to improve their skills
and advance to the next level. The CTHA will strive to provide a healthy and constructive environment, providing a positive influence upon the lives of its youth hockey players, both on and off the ice.

This announcement brings great excitement and anticipation to the four founding associations and Tier I hockey in Colorado. CTHA hopes the rest of the hockey
community will embrace the CTHA based on its mission, principles and development philosophies.

Additional information regarding the CTHA will be released on the CTHA website
at www.cthahockey.com, www.BroomfieldEventCenter.com and the founding member websites as it becomes available.
